How to Reset GMC IntelliLink

What Is GMC IntelliLink?

IntelliLink is GMC’s premier infotainment system, first introduced to its truck and SUV lineup on the 2012 GMC Terrain. Every new GMC now comes standard with an infotainment system and a touchscreen display. GMC IntelliLink allows you to access all of your favorite smartphone apps, streaming services, contacts, and more while on the go in Red Hill. Check for GMC IntelliLink Updates

Before you move forward with resetting your entertainment system, we recommend checking for software updates. If you happen to miss a software update or a GMC IntelliLink Navigation upgrade, it could be the cause of any issues you may be experiencing with a lack of connection between your phone and your GMC vehicle.

1. Under the ‘System’ tab of your display screen, click through to ‘Vehicle Software’ and look for ‘Updates’
2. Select ‘Software Information’ and look for ‘System Update’

If there is a GMC IntelliLink update available, it will download. Once it’s downloaded, you’ll be prompted with on-screen steps to install it. If you need an update, this should solve that issue!

Steps to Resetting the GMC IntelliLink

If you’re experiencing issues with your infotainment system and there are no software updates available, you can get GMC IntelliLink support by calling 1-800-462-8782 for assistance. 

But we’ll tell you how to reset GMC IntelliLink on your own. Follow these steps:

1. Navigate to your GMC IntelliLink home screen
2. Select ‘Settings’
3. Select ‘Return to Factory Settings’
4. You’ll see three options: Restore Vehicle Settings, Clear All Private Data, or Restore Radio Settings. For our purposes, select ‘Restore Vehicle Settings’
5. When prompted to either Continue or Cancel, click ‘Continue’
6. At this point, you can navigate back to the home screen and your system should be reset and you can reconnect your phone.

Note: Before you restore GMC IntelliLink to factory settings, you need to understand that any personalized settings will be erased. You’ll be starting over with your infotainment system that’s completely unprogrammed. If there are GMC IntelliLink apps you’ve downloaded, they may be removed from your infotainment screen. You’ll have to redownload them if you reset the Intellilink system.
